How Can Therapy Help?

Do you relate to any of the following questions?

  • Are you struggling with a situation that has you feeling stuck, frustrated, isolated, or overwhelmed?  If so, it may be helpful to get an outside perspective.
  • Do you notice significant changes in your (or your adolescent child’s) mood, attitude, sleep, or appetite?  Finding a safe place to talk about what’s going on and how things have changed is a first step in diagnosing the problem.
  • Are you overly worried about a loved one, feeling burned out or uncertain about how to proceed?  Caring for others is a natural part of life. Becoming overwhelmed by this role is a sign that things have gotten out of balance. Let’s talk about it.
  • Is your relationship less satisfying than it once was? Do you feel unable to express yourself without anger?  Relationships need tending, and without this, they can get bogged down in resentment and/or disconnection. It is possible to change this, if both people in the relationship do the work!

The content of all counseling sessions is kept confidential.

My approach is to listen carefully and be an active participant in therapy. Each person has their own story and situation, and once I get to know you, we will define goals together, based on what you want.

All sessions occur with a goal of building trust and making a safe space for you.

I draw from a variety of theoretical modalities, including: feminist/relational, psychodynamic, family systems, cognitive behavioral, and dialectical behavioral therapies. It is often useful to incorporate tools such as mindfulness, mind-body awareness, a creative process like journaling or art, and outside reading.

I would be happy to talk with you about the possibility of working together. A brief initial phone consultation is free of charge. 847-708-1844
